We're writing to introduce something new: 218 Marketplace is officially live at 218marketplace.com.

What it is

218 Marketplace is a hyper-local, multi-vendor online shop built specifically for Northern Minnesota. It gives artisans, craftspeople, collectors, and small businesses a dedicated digital storefront — and gives shoppers one easy place to find authentic goods made, grown, or gathered right here in the 218.

How it works

Selling is free to join — no monthly subscription fees, no listing fees, unlimited listings. The platform takes a small flat fee only when something sells ($2.95 to $20 depending on the order total), so makers never pay out of pocket to get started. Every seller completes identity and licensing verification before going live, so shoppers can buy with confidence.

What you'll find, category by category

• Handcrafted & Apparel — Jewelry, woodcraft, art, and goods made by hand — with the materials and origin of every piece listed.

• Books & Media, Music, and Band Merch — Regional authors and musicians sell hard copies or instant digital downloads, and offer autographed editions.

• Cabin & Home — Northwoods decor and living for lake places and lodge-style homes.

• The Second-Hand Market — Pre-loved items with a serial number or truth-in-listing statement on every listing, so buyers know exactly what they're getting.

• The 218 Services Directory — Local service providers — think snow removal, lawn care, home maintenance — with their own profile page and a direct intake form for customers.

For vendors

There's a full dashboard: manage listings with photos and video, track orders, print and mark shipments, manage payouts (PayPal or direct deposit), message customers, and join the directory — all in one place. Secure checkout and payouts run through Base44 Payments.
