How can we help?

Answers to the most common questions below — and if you still need us, send a message and we'll reply within one business day.

Frequently asked questions

Where does my order ship from?+

Every item ships straight from the maker who listed it — their workshop or kitchen right here in northern Minnesota. That's why items from different vendors arrive in separate packages.

Who do I contact about my order?+

Start with the vendor: every product and shop page has a way to message the seller directly. They know the item, the materials, and exactly when it shipped. If you can't reach them or something needs our attention, use the form below and we'll step in.

What's the return and refund policy?+

Returns are handled vendor-first: reach out to the maker and they'll make it right. If a vendor is unresponsive or you and the maker can't resolve a dispute, contact us and the marketplace will review the order and issue a refund where warranted.

How long does shipping take?+

It varies by maker — most ship within a few business days, and each listing shows the vendor's shipping policy. You'll get tracking as soon as your item is on its way.

Can I pick up locally instead of shipping?+

Many vendors offer local pickup at their workshop or a regional pickup point. Look for the pickup option on the product page, and choose pickup instead of shipping at checkout.

How do digital downloads work?+

Listings marked as digital downloads are delivered by the vendor after checkout — no shipping involved. If your download hasn't arrived, message the vendor first, then let us know.

What about sales tax?+

Minnesota sales tax is calculated automatically at checkout based on your delivery address. Most clothing and grocery items are exempt under Minnesota law.

Why is there a processing fee at checkout?+

Card payments cost money to process, so a payment-processing fee of 2.9% of your order subtotal plus $0.30 per order is added as its own line at checkout. It's shown separately so makers keep the full price of their work.

How do I report a listing or a shop?+

Use the Report button on the product or storefront page. Reports go straight to our trust and safety review queue.

I'm a maker — how do I sell on the 218?+

Apply on the Sell on 218 page — it takes under a minute, and our team reviews every application by hand.

How do I book a service I found in the directory?+

The 218 Services Directory is a listing venue: contact the provider directly using the request form on their profile. Since providers are independent businesses, always ask about licensing and insurance before hiring — see their profile for the details they've provided.
